With today’s economy who isn’t trying to pinch a penny here and there?

Are you a baseball fan? Are you a family that loves a good family outing that isn’t gonna break the bank?

The Brockton Rox is the place to be!!

The stadium is pretty modern there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Unlike Fenway you don’t have to worry about sitting behind a pilar or being in the bleachers with a rowdy crowd.

The first thing that really amazed me about The Rox was the pricing, seats are $5 $8 and $12 and honestly I think the $5 seats are far and away the best seats, I’m a big foul ball fan.

After you spend $20 for a family of 4 to get in the park I’d head over to the snack shack and grab a couple chicken & fries boats. You get a big pile of fries and 4 big chicken tenders for a very reasonable $6. We bought a boat and extra order of fries and between the 2 of us we couldn’t finish them.

I was lucky and Dom refused to get a souvenir but I did poke around and like the tickets and food the prices were great.

Being an avid sports card collector I couldn’t resist buying The Rox team set for $2, you can’t even buy a low end pack of cards for $2 anymore.

Maybe the best attraction is Kids Zone, again the prices are better then reasonable, there’s 2 bounce houses an obstacle course and face painting. I have to say your a fool if you don’t buy the $8 bracelet. It gives the kids unlimited time in the play area, otherwise it’s a buck for each bounce or face paint. Really either way it’s a deal.

I hate to do it but there is a negative to the kids zone, you can’t see the game, but you can hear it being called.

I have 3 boys and I’ve been taking em to ball games since my 15 yr old was a yr, his first game was opening day to see Pedro pitch in 99 or 2000. We’ve been to Fenway Pawtucket Lowell and Brockton for The Rox and if I had to choose I’d pick The Brockton Rox every time.

The park is great, food is good, prices can’t be beat and there’s plenty to do for the whole family

Being a daddy I cant help but think of all the amazing things Aaron Hernandez may end up missing out on if he is convicted of murdering Odin Lloyd.

I love being on the sidelines of my sons football games, I remember my son Zach scoring his first touchdown ever and running the 83 yards along side him as he cut to the right sideline and sprinted the length of the field in Woburn Ma.

I have been in jail before, be it a short time, I couldnt help crying myslef to sleep at night missing my family and thinking damn if I hadn’t done that or if I had only done this insteada what I got locked up for.

Boy do I feel foolish… I am not ashamed to say it…

I was one who thought the best case scenario not even a doubt in my mind

“Aaron Hernandez was innocent of murder”

I said those words over and over. I work with the public daily. Ages 8 days old to 108 yrs old and there wasnt one person not talking about the horrible way Odin Lloyd was brutally taken from his loved ones, his team and from all the folks who never got to meet him.

C’mon… Who really thought we would be living this horror? Movies aren’t even this twisted and ongoing.

I’m waiting to hear about some murder from when Aaron Hernandez was an adolescent because it really seams that everytime you look into his past there’s some near death shooting or even worse double homicide

I can understand Hernandez having a lustful admiration for firearms.

I did as well, and if you kno anything about me you kno that a single gunshot to the head took my pops when I was 16 yrs old.

Like this Odin Lloyd murder there was so many what when & how’s about my dads death, I wasn’t there so I will probably never kno.

For now I have the truth the whole and nothing but half the truth, that’s a whole nother story for another time.

What I was trying to get at is its not unusual for young men to be fascinated with guns, one thing that should be taught to anyone interested in guns is respect.

Unfortunately some people are unable to do something’s that are easy for some and those same people are capable of things you wouldn’t and couldn’t dream of.

Aaron Hernandez is one of those people, I now truly believe he’s unable to respect anything or anyone, and he’s proven he’s capable of things nobody woulda or coulda dreamed of.

Something else I can identify with is being so angry and full of rage that if not for being restrained like a dog I quite possibly coulda taken another mans life.

Try losing your pops & having your sweet lil sister meet a guy kinda like who you were at that age. Anything becomes possible.

That’s a whole nother story for another time as well.

I have seen split decisions change people and people’s life’s forever.

I’ve seen people decide to sit at a certain place get hit and never be the same.

I’ve seen a buddy stomped to the point he couldn’t respond or protect himself anymore, ended up alive with plates protecting his brain, had to learn to walk talk all that

I’ve seen people change their lives with one decision and end up living in castles overlooking water happily ever after

Your home is your castle, think about

Very rarely do you see somebody come from humble beginnings struggle thru the hard times, shine when all the lights were on them make it to the big time only to self destruct

Yes it happens but not usually to the degree I am witnessing and not usually in the manner.

I don’t think any athlete has been connected to as many bad stories and such deeply saddening stories ever and it’ll probably never happen again.

Imagine being so cocky & delusional that you become criminally insane??

That’s the only way I can explain planning out a murder getting a group together and executing the murder.

I’m not saying somebody should be able to plead out as criminally insane and get away with murder, I think that you crack your gonna probably crack again so why not lock em up, if not forever then forever and a day.

Think about it when’s the last time you did something risky? Really pushed things to the edge? Maybe to the point of life and death? Something that had your blood pumpin heart racing? When it was over you couldn’t believe you did it, you risked it all and walked away on top?

Maybe I can do that again

I think that mindset becomes that in a killer, I think once ya kill you can do it again with less fear maybe even on impulse

I’ve seen lotta good and lotta crazy along with a heck of a lotta sad and this story about Odin and Aaron keeps getting crazier I don’t think it can get any sadder.

What’s worse then the loss of a loved one?

Now maybe some way, some how, this bad horror will help somebody along the way to change their life or lives and live in that castle overlooking water, to many end in a casket and all to many are putting themselves in cell blocks.

They say it usually takes an earth shattering event to change something forever.

I can attest to it, the vision of my dad with a hole in is head changed me and my life forever

I realized I was either gonna be dead or in prison forever like my dad so thru trials tribulations error blood sweat & tears I become a productive member of society.

Wouldn’t change it for a thing

Forgive me if I sound ignorant but I’ve heard this story before, not always the same name & not always the same victims defendants witnesses or FACTS!!

Aaron Hernandez of the New England Patriots connected to North Attleboro homicide case.

I couldn’t help but think of Ray Lewis. Many wrote Ray off, I can’t tell you how many times I heard “that motherfucker is guilty” he was fully convicted by many in the public way before the “justice system” even had all the facts in front of them.

By no means am I saying Ray & Aaron are the same story but there’s just no way I’m jumping to guilty as I last heard & knew the American way is innocent till proven guilty.

Yes yes things don’t look good for Hernandez if what the media has shared is true.

1) dead guy found close by Aaron’s home

2) 2013 Chevy SUV rented under Aaron’s name somehow linked to dead guy

3) Hernandez sought for questioning but not named suspect

4) search warrant executed at his North Attleboro home

5) local news outlet CBS reports Hernandez not working with cops I translate that to he is covering his ass speaking with a lawyer.

6) day after all above unfolds civil suit exposed, stating Aaron shot another guy in the face with illegal firearm

7) police return to Aaron Hernandez’ North Attleboro home and find out he’s left his home

8) suddenly a number of NFL teams are speaking out about the off the field concerns they had and even throwing the G word around. He had gang ties, WOW big news.

Here’s what I say could have happened, none of my hypothetical story is true.

There’s no way to deny that Aaron Hernandez is connected some way to this unfortunate situation

Could it simply be that the 2013 Chevy suburban rented in his name was being driven by one of his close friends?

Could that close friend maybe even family member still have ties to some street stuff?

It’s really not uncommon for athletes that sign a 40 million dollar contract extension to take care of friends & family that have stuck by their sides. The close ones, the ones that were there thru thick and thin, they road with ya when there wasnt a thing to ride for.

Could it be that the shooting of a man in the face in florida was just as innocent as Vice President Dicky buck shotting a guy in the face?

Yeah I heard Hernandez didn’t have a license for the firearm, could the accuser Bradley have been the one who’s gun it was and he let Aaron handled the weapon and during being careless the weapon went off?

I’ve heard of so many people being in the wrong place at the wrong time or knowing the wrong people at the wrong time.

Just look back at history and how many great famous people who made it outta the gutter get drawn into things their friends and family did only to be found innocent Puffy Snoop Jay Z Ray Lewis the list goes on.

Before you go convicting a great guy on what is released & fabricated by the media think about the possibilities

Yes I’m well aware that this story is highly unlikely but so are the chances a guy who helps the community and makes millions of dollars a year would commit murder

Update June 20, 2013 @ 3:15pm

More info has been released regarding the Chevy rented in Hernadez name. Word from neighbors of the victim is it was towed from his Dorchester home the day after his body was found & that he had been driving it during the last week.

There’s also been reports that Aaron’s home security system recently was broken, along with the phone turned over to police by his attorney.

There’s also been reports that this murder is stemming from marijuana.

No matter what I hear from the media I say Aaron Hernandez is innocent and so does our justice system

Being a die hard RedSox fan and Native American I’ve always rooted for Ellsbury, he’s proven time and time again that he’s able to take ball games over.

I’ve found it harder and harder to continue to cheer for a guy who year in year out is sidelined by injury.

Ill argue the 2014 Boston RedSox Roster will not include Ellsbury’s speed and glove.

The question for the 2013 roster is do they trade jacoby or ride out this season and try and talk down the price of what I consider MLB fine china.

Known to be stunning even amazing yet must be cared for and handled with extreme caution while requiring a premium price, many would say both Ellsbury and premium fine china are both over priced as well.

Jacoby Ellsbury also has an agent who’s got a proven track record for getting his clients the most money available, some have chose the money over a championship.

I dunno, for me when your making millions to play a game you supposedly love I’d play for a contender at a discount any day over playing for a perennial loser for a record breaking contract.

It’s no secret the Sox have some great prospects, there’s some lively ball players from single A all the way up to Yawkey Way.

I’m willing to bet that with the recent groin injury suffered, if Jackie Bradley Jr can start swinging a hot bat and Jose Iglesias continues to play a decent hot corner we could witness a few home grown Sox players shipping outta Boston for a strong veteran pitcher.

Will it be a couple farm hands or will it be bigger named home grown stars like Jacoby Ellsbury and Will Middlebrooks?

As the old battle for first place goes on so will the battle of what’s the next best move for the next World Series championship in Boston….

I’m a stay at home daddy, my son and I are always trying to find ways to cook and play together.

We have come up with maybe the “Worlds Greatest” personal pizza recipe. There’s a couple very important small details that need to be followed for full potential and I’m sure many will put their own twist on this recipe.

1st thing needed is a pack of high quality english muffins

2nd High Quality Sauce I like to use Pastene Chateau Marinara Sauce. You could definitely use a meat sauce instead.

Extra Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Basil Leaves
Parsley Flake
Crushed Red Pepper (dried)
Black Pepper
Ramano Grated Cheese
Shredded Mozzarella
Shredded Cheddar
Minced Garlic (add a lil drizzle of garlic oil also)

I mix a few spoonfuls of oil with above listed ingredients, dont ask measurements I’m Italian we make everything to taste. I do use all dried spices so that I can grind them into fine powder. Mix in a few pinches of the Ramano.

Heat the oven to 500 degrees, while the oven is warmin split each muffin. We usually make 8 personal pizzas (4 muffins split)

Once you’ve got halves start popping them down in the toaster on a light setting, mines set between 3/4, just enough to crisp the edges.

Now take the oil cheese basil parsley red pepper & black pepper mix and spread on lightly toasted muffin.

Next spoon on your choose of sauce, I like to stay back a 1/4 inch or so when doing this, it kind of gives a crust look & feel. Like a real personal pizza. Add sauce to your liking, I usually spread a spoonful to spoon and half.

Now spread your shredded cheese leaving a small border around edge to create the crust, again add cheese to your liking I’m a light cheese type. This is also a good time to add any toppings you like and dont be afraid to add another light layer of cheese over your topping.

Next I usually dip the spoon back into the oil cheese spice mix and let 2/3 drips hit the top of the personal pizza.

Final step of cooking is now placing pizzas directly on the rack inside your oven or for an even crisper crust cook on your BBQ.

I like a crispy crunchy crust some like softer doughy crust so actual oven time is to taste. I leave mine in for 8-10 minutes once I see the edges curling and browning and cheese melting I’m good.

This recipe is a family friendly recipe, my 3 yr old son has already become a master at high quality personal pizza making. I hope a few try this and create the incredible laughs and good times followed by an awesome homemade family dinner.

These also make some great apps during sports games or birthday parties the toppings are endless…. ENJOY!!

Check me out on twitter I’m always talking Boston Sports and good food

20121101-215100.jpgI stare at this picture of my 3 sons and sometimes become speechless other times I get these intense emotions that run thru my body. Goose bumps neck hairs stand up, those kinda emotions.

My oldest son 14yrs old playin his first year of real organized youth football. I’ve always known he was a great athlete, after all I am his dad and I also had the pleasure of being his coach in youth baseball a few yrs back. He just dominated and over powered the entire league. He used to drive me crazy when he wouldn’t run out ground balls.

Watchin him carry the ball for the first time and literally carrying 5 Winthrop kids for 7 yards was a teary eyed moment for this daddy. Watchin him lineup at defensive tackle and wreak havoc in offensive backfields makes me grin with almost an arrogant pride. Hearing parents cheer on the team then ask who’s that big boy makes me wanna shout “THAT’S MY SON”. I don’t tho I’m trying to teach these 3 young boys how to be great men. I let his play do the talkin, I gotta practice what I preach.

Watchin my 9yr old playing his second year of organized youth football is like night and day to watchin the big boy play.

My 9yr old is a completely different player with a completely different build. He’s lean mean and super fast. God was watchin a football game when he was writing his script.

I’ll never forget running 89yrds along the sidelines yelling cheering crying watching him take the very first handoff of the year, actually it was the very first handoff he had ever taken, 89 yards for a touchdown. He’s so fast and nimble, he can stop cut and go without changing speeds, he’s like a deer, fun to watch run wild. He’s an absolute animal on defense, he makes great tackles, makes solid hits, he just plays football the way football was meant to be played. Problem is he’s well aware of how good he is and doesn’t understand some kids learn games at different speeds. He’s the kid doing TD dances (his dances are actually good if he wasn’t my son) I’m the dad screamin give the ref the ball, beggin his coaches to bench him.

I guess the best way to explain it is he’s learned to play the game very well but he hasn’t learned to respect the game. I hate showboat players, just how I was brought up. My papa always said “if your good enough to talk about how good you are people will do it” well many have talked about how good he is and many have let him kno how good they think he is.

This being his second yr and growing a lil older he is doing much better then last yr. He actually moved up from Titans to Crusaders this year. I was really hoping an older kid would pop him a few times, it just hasn’t happened, even tho he’s one of the youngest kids on the field he still dominates and out plays most kids.

Then there’s my 3yr old who teaches me so much on a daily basis. Going from a car sales man working 75-80hrs a wk to a stay at home football dad has been a huge learning lesson.

Just like watchin his older brothers play ball I get to live these awesome daddy moments with him.

I’ll never forget the first time puttin him on a 2 wheeler bike at Walmart. He got on that thing and took off like he’d been riding a bike since birth, made me so proud I walked around the store recording him for a half hour. We had to buy that bike, there was no way I could take him off it I just couldn’t do it. Watching his confidence grow from timidly fumbling his way around the bike to pedal at speeds I had to basically jog to keep up with him was amazing.

It’s not always proud sunshiny days being the daddy of 3 amazing sons, but what it is is a constant look in the mirror. My direct actions reflect who and what these young boys become. If I’m yelling at the ref for missing a holding call or not calling something what are my boys gonna do when they don’t agree with an authority figure?

Maybe the greatest lesson I’ve learned in life is humility. I try on a regular basis to show my sons that the small things are usually the meaningful things, if we can be comfortably humble the big glorious things will be all that much more rewarding.

Another life lesson learned is doing the next right thing usually causes the right outcome. It’s the greedy selfish acts that leave ya feeling defeated. When your greedy you can never enjoy what ya got cause ya always want more and always worrying about what it is you got.

All this is my pride and joy, I love being the daddy of 3 amazing boys, just makes me feel old that one is quickly becoming a great young man.
